Welcome to our new website! We hope it will give you an overview of our offerings and interests in the fascinating realm of personal adornment as interpreted by Native American artisans. We welcome your communications, and want to assure your complete satisfaction.
My mission is to seek out and offer for sale some exceptional examples of the work of Native American silversmiths of the Southwest.. My appreciation and love for the very early expressions of the Navajo and Pueblo silversmith’s art is unwavering, but as time marches on, these become more difficult to acquire. Good age will always be one of the main criteria in the search, but elegant and unusual design and exquisite workmanship are also a strong part of the equation.
Personal adornment holds an enduring fascination for me. My reading through the years has led me to speculate that early men and women first had the impulse to wear and carry pieces of the mineral kingdom because they felt that these objects contained spiritual energy. Not only were certain stones beautiful in their natural state, but they could be carved and shaped and charged with the energy of ceremonial ritual. When carried or worn, the beautiful object could serve a talismanic purpose and provide protection or power to ensure well-being and survival.
It would require a dissertation to fully support these ideas, and I
simply offer them here as the basis for my interest in personal adornment as it has evolved and been interpreted through the aesthetic of the indigenous peoples of the Southwest.
I live for beauty. Perhaps we all do. I hope that our interactions and communications through this medium will be fruitful and harmonious.
